God is God
I’m sure most can relate when I say that sometimes in our lives things happen and we don’t understand why. We may figure out the ‘why’ one day or we may never know. What IS important is to remember that despite the reasons why God is God.
“Women receiving back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they may gain a better resurrection.” Hebrews 11:35 (NIV)
This verse was in Our Daily Bread today which inspired my post, because I’m currently dealing with this and I know in one way or another everyone experiences this. We would all appreciate a happy ending, but in reality that isn’t always the case. God IS good and sometimes he allows what we think are ‘bad things’ to happen. God may provide deliverance or He may give us the strength to endure. It’s important to remember that our eyes are fixated in the present. We don’t know what the future holds and what God has in store. He is the one who is omniscient! No matter what He does and what he allows to happen in our life you can be certain there is a greater purpose; a spiritual purpose, “so that they may gain a better resurrection.”
I sometimes get so caught up in my life and in this world that I forget that I do not belong to the world. The world is full of logic and reason and God does not need to be logical or reasonable. He is not bound by the limitations of this world. So although we may not comprehend why, we still need to put our trust in Him and walk in His will.
In the deepest times of despair, turn to God.
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, ‘He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.’ But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.” Hebrews 10:35-39 (NIV)
As man receives his first spiritual life by faith, so it is by faith that he shall continue to live (Luke 4:4 and Deut. 8:3).The faith meant here is that fully developed living trust in the unseen (Hebrews 11:1) Saviour, which can keep men steadfast amidst persecutions and temptations.
Faith in God is not simply faith in what God can do. But it’s the belief that God is God whether He delivers us or not. He has the final say. And it’s our decision to choose to follow Him through it all.
Lord, help us trust You all the time
Regardless of what comes our way,
Accepting from Your goodness that
You always have the final say. ♥
